Tiffany Geddis
Originally from The United States, I originally moved to The Netherlands in 2016 to complete graduate school. I graduated in August 2018 from Webster University in Leiden with a master’s in counseling psychology. Prior to attending Webster University, I worked as a child welfare specialist in the state of Oklahoma from 2014 to 2016. I worked with diverse adolescent and family’s struggling with severe mental health needs, trauma, addiction, abuse, and neglect. During my time at Webster, I used the knowledge that I had gained to work with clients as young as 5 years old on matters of anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, suicidality, and daily stressors. I completed my internship with a foster care agency specializing in high need behaviors for youth’s and family’s. In 2018 I went back to work in child welfare before returning to counseling in the United States. I continue to serve adolescents and their families with challenging behaviors, mental health needs, parenting practices, addiction, and trauma recovery.
I have worked in diverse populations and pride myself on providing culturally competent care and support. As a woman of color, I understand the need and desire to work with a therapist or provider who understands the complexities of daily life coupled with the stressors associated with being a person of color. I work with children and adults from all populations with sometimes severe mental health and substance abuse needs, but I pride myself on also nurturing the self-esteem, creativity, and communication skills of my clients.
I have experience working with trauma associated with childhood, domestic violence, sexual abuse, bipolar disorder, anxiety, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, mood disorders, and addiction to substances. My therapy style is based on the clients needs and what their treatment goals may be. I work mainly in person centered therapy, talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy. I provide case management services to clients who need help accessing external resources and educational needs.
